Hermandad de Santiago Apóstol de La Solana announces 16th Santiago Days

The Hermandad de Santiago Apóstol de La Solana has announced its 16th annual Santiago Days, scheduled to take place from November 10 to 14. The program features three conferences and a mass for deceased members.

The event will focus on historical and religious figures, including San Juan de Ávila, Pedro I of Castile, and the Marquises of Santa Cruz. The first lecture, titled ‘San Juan de Ávila: life and spirituality,’ will be presented by Juan Carlos Torres Torres. The second session, ‘Pedro I, precursor of a modern State,’ will be led by Dolores Carrasco Álamo, examining the Castilian monarch and the historical context of the regicide of Montiel.

The final conference will address the relationship between the Marquises of Santa Cruz and the encomienda of La Solana and Alhambra. According to secretary Paulino Sánchez, the activities are open to the general public to promote local history and geography.
