Hermigua to host technical sessions on water management and agricultural modernization

The Government of the Canary Islands is organizing the ‘Water, Innovation and Agricultural Modernization’ technical conference in Hermigua, La Gomera, on September 22 and 23. The event aims to provide local farmers with tools and strategies to optimize water management, improve soil health, and explore crop diversification opportunities in rural areas.

The conference will feature technical presentations and success stories, including the modernization and automation project for the Liria-Castellana irrigation network. Additionally, the event will cover evaluations of local pilot farms and research on agricultural soil maintenance and recovery. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the regional government to implement more efficient and technologically advanced irrigation systems adapted to the specific needs of the islands.
