Hermosillo endures sandstorm damage and temporary water outage

A sandstorm struck Hermosillo, Sonora, producing winds up to 72 km/h and light rain. The municipal Civil Protection Coordination recorded 52 emergency reports, mainly involving fallen trees, downed poles, displaced billboard panels, traffic‑light failures, a fence collapse and cable drops. crews inspected the city, cleared hazards and urged residents to stay alert.

Separately, the city's water authority halted supply in several central‑northern neighborhoods for about eight hours to repair a 14‑inch pipe leak on García Aburto street. The shutdown affected the Bugambilias, Sacramento, Prados del Sol, Residencial Kino, Jesús García (partial) areas and nearby sectors. Work crews closed valves, fixed the line and planned to restore pressure after the repairs.
