Hermosillo Fire Department honors personnel for National Firefighters Day

The Hermosillo Fire Department celebrated National Firefighters Day with ceremonies and a thanksgiving mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption. The events honored the dedication and long-term service of various department members.

During the commemorations, 35 personnel were recognized for their career longevity, with service milestones ranging from 10 to 45 years. Notable honors included Guadalupe Cabanillas Hernández being named ‘Firefighter of the Year’ and Jesús Alberto Zepeda Hoyos receiving the ‘Volunteer Firefighter of the Year’ award. Fire Department Director Juan Francisco Matty Ortega, who received recognition for 30 years of service, emphasized the department's continuous commitment to responding to all citizen emergencies.

The municipal government highlighted its ongoing support for the department, noting investments of over 120 million pesos in stations and equipment, alongside 12 million pesos for training and professionalization. Additionally, six new members graduated from the Academy during the festivities.
