Hermosillo hosts national ferromodeling convention

Hermosillo, Sonora, will host the 29th National Convention of Ferromodelists and Ferroaficionados of Mexico from August 7‑9. The free event at the Casa de la Cultura will feature scale‑model train displays, moving and sound‑enabled maquettes, conferences on railway history, a collective art exhibition, and a children’s contest called “Pinta tu Tren.”

The municipal government, led by Mayor Antonio Astiazarán and the tourism director Fernanda Cisneros, is supporting the convention to boost local tourism and cultural promotion. Participants are expected from across Mexican states and the United States. Organized tours via the city’s Trolebús Turístico will take visitors to historic sites such as the Museo Minero, the historic centre, and the Regional Museum of Sonora.
