Hermosillo Mayor Antonio Astiazarán Celebrates Youth Soccer Tournament Closure

Mayor Antonio Astiazarán led the closing ceremony of the 2026 "Mundialito" youth football tournament in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. The event featured 48 teams of 9‑ to 11‑year‑old children from various neighborhoods and the nearby community of Miguel Alemán, each representing a different country.

In the final match, the team representing Switzerland won the championship, Mexico finished as runner‑up, Tunisia placed third and Colombia fourth. The tournament was organized by the municipal government through the Instituto del Deporte de Hermosillo (IDH), with commentary provided by content creator Iván Barrera, known as "El Perro Martinoli," who traveled from Pachuca to narrate the games. Musical performances by local youths were also part of the ceremony.

Mayor Astiazarán emphasised that the tournament strengthened family cohesion, promoted sport and values among Hermosillo's children, and pledged continued investment in sports infrastructure and programs for young athletes.
