Hermosillo Mayor Antonio Astiazarán expands employee scholarships and entrepreneur support program

The municipal government of Hermosillo signed a collaboration agreement with the Instituto Sonorense de Administración Pública (ISAP) that will allow 24 city workers to pursue master's and doctoral degrees in public administration, health management, education and related fields. Mayor Antonio "Toño" Astiazarán and ISAP director Rafael Valenzuela highlighted the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to professionalize the local civil service.

At the same time, the city celebrated the graduation of the tenth cohort of the Maxi Apoyo program, a municipal scheme that provides training and interest‑free credit to new entrepreneurs. The ceremony, attended by Mayor Astiazarán and DIF Hermosillo head Patricia Ruibal, handed out a symbolic cheque of 518,000 pesos to support 304 women and one man, bringing the program’s total to about 3,000 graduates and more than 7.4 million pesos in interest‑free loans since its inception.
