San Juan del Río reinstates verified vehicle market on August 1

The municipal government of San Juan del Río will restart the Tianguis de Vehículos Verificados y Seguros on Saturday, 1 August 2026. The market will operate every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the parking area of the Centro Expositor, with free entry for pedestrians.

Exhibitors must pay 100 pesos per vehicle, and personnel from the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública Municipal will inspect each unit's documents, engine and chassis numbers, and service history. The initiative, led by mayor Roberto Cabrera Valencia, seeks to give residents of San Juan del Río and nearby towns a reliable, safe venue for buying and selling used cars.

The program, first launched on 24 April 2026, aims to curb informal sales of vehicles with irregular paperwork or possible theft, and it has already been expanded to other sites in the state.
