Hermosillo prison escape sparks investigation and arrests in Sonora
Authorities in Sonora are probing the escape of three inmates from the Cereso No. 2 prison in Hermosillo. The missing prisoners – Francisco Manuel Romero Carranza, Paul Alexis Téllez Holguín and Omar Milán Tena – fled early Saturday morning, prompting the activation of a red‑code protocol and an international search alert.
Sonora prosecutor Gustavo Rómulo Salas announced the detention of four suspected facilitators, including two prison officials and a staff member, for alleged omissions that allowed the escape. A reward of up to one million pesos has been offered for information leading to the recapture of each fugitive.
