Hermosillo public transport bus catches fire on Bulevar Kino

A public transport bus from Line 9 caught fire on Monday afternoon on Bulevar Kino in the hotel zone of Hermosillo, Sonora. The incident occurred near the Torre Hermosillo and the Voco Hotel, leading to the complete closure of both directions of the boulevard due to fuel spills and emergency operations.

Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have been caused by a mechanical failure following an explosion heard by the driver. Passengers reported a burning smell during the trip and described a chaotic evacuation. One passenger claimed the driver was initially unresponsive to warnings before eventually opening the doors to allow people to escape.

Emergency responders, including the Hermosillo Fire Department, Municipal Police, and Red Cross, attended the scene to control the blaze and clean the roadway. No injuries or fatalities were reported, as passengers were able to evacuate the vehicle before the fire spread extensively.
