Hernandarias Nephrological Center undergoes infrastructure repairs

Repairs are underway at the Hernandarias Nephrological Center in Paraguay following a technical inspection ordered by Itaipu Binacional. The inspection was prompted by localized defects discovered in certain sections of the building.

Constructora Ritter, the contractor responsible for the facility, determined that the cracks were caused by poor plaster adhesion to the concrete structure due to a lack of proper preparation and metal mesh at masonry joints. The evaluation confirmed there is no damage to the main structure, no ground settlement, and no water leaks.

Corrective measures are nearing completion and include preventive reinforcement with rods, installation of metal mesh, plaster replacement, and the application of epoxy paint. The center was funded by Itaipu Binacional at the request of the Ministry of Public Health to expand specialized care in Alto Paraná, providing hemodialysis services to reduce travel times and costs for local patients.
