Herne to host 50th anniversary of Tage Alter Musik festival

The city of Herne and the cultural radio station WDR 3 are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Tage Alter Musik festival. Scheduled to take place from November 12 to 15, 2026, the anniversary edition will operate under the theme ‘Das Fest’ (The Festival).

The program features 16 events, including performances by ensembles such as B'Rock Orchestra, Stile Antico, and Concerto Köln, alongside soloists Stefan Temmingh and Margret Koell. A central concept of this edition explores the historical connection between Jimi Hendrix and Georg Friedrich Handel, who lived on the same street in London despite being separated by centuries.

In addition to musical performances, the festival includes interactive elements such as dance workshops focused on traditional pub dances from Handel's era, workshop concerts, and an art exhibition by the Herner Künstlerbund.
