Hernán Darío Herrera departs Once Caldas

Hernán Darío Herrera has departed from his role as manager of the Colombian football club Once Caldas. His tenure, which began in October 2023 and lasted nearly three years, saw him lead the team through 156 matches, recording 68 victories, 40 draws, and 48 defeats.

Under Herrera’s leadership, the club achieved a 52% points performance rate, scoring 201 goals while conceding 161. He is noted for stabilizing the team during an institutional crisis, moving them away from relegation zones, and securing qualification for the Copa Sudamericana.

Despite these sporting achievements, the club faces ongoing structural issues. Reports suggest a fundamental disconnect between the club's ownership and its supporters. While fans seek sporting glory, the current owners reportedly prioritize economic and strategic market interests within the Eje Cafetero region over footballing success.
