Hernán Penagos honored by ANDI for electoral management

Bruce Mac Master, president of the National Association of Businessmen of Colombia (ANDI), presented a recognition to National Registrar Hernán Penagos during the Colombian Business Congress in Cartagena. The award honors Penagos for his management of the recent presidential elections and his defense of democratic institutions.

Penagos credited the electoral process to the efforts of Registraduría officials and citizen jurors. He noted that the elections required deploying approximately 832,000 jurors across more than 500,000 polling stations despite security, territorial, and logistical challenges. Addressing questions regarding election results, Penagos stated that doubts raised during the process were reviewed and emphasized the necessity of maintaining public trust in the voting and scrutiny systems.
