Hero MotoCorp files design patent for new dual-sport motorcycle

Hero MotoCorp has filed a new design patent for a dual-sport adventure motorcycle that suggests a potential revival of the Impulse model. The patent reveals a sleek design with a likely engine displacement between 150cc and 200cc.

Technical details from the patent indicate an air-cooled engine without an oil cooler, potentially utilizing a carburetted setup. The presence of a fuel tap and a choke knob suggests the model may be intended for export markets where carburetted engines are still permitted. The design features include both kick-start and electric start options, telescopic front suspension, a monoshock rear unit, wire-spoke wheels, and disc brakes on both the front and rear.

Styling elements such as the tank shrouds and silhouette bear similarities to the original Impulse, while the tail-lamp and headlight design draw cues from Hero’s modern lineup, including the Xtreme and XPulse series. This new model could be positioned as a more affordable alternative below the current XPulse portfolio.
