Hero MotoCorp raises Ather Energy stake to 32.8% in ₹1,758 crore deal
Hero MotoCorp has increased its stake in electric scooter manufacturer Ather Energy to 32.8% following a ₹1,758 crore block deal. The transaction involved the purchase of approximately 1.18 crore shares at an average price of ₹1,480 per share, acquired from the Singapore government through an open market transaction.
This investment follows a previous announcement of a ₹1,000 crore commitment to Ather. The capital is intended to support Ather’s expansion, including its ‘Factory 3.0 project’ in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, which aims to increase annual production capacity to 1.42 million units. Funds will also be directed toward research and development, marketing, and debt repayment.
Ather Energy has recently shown improved financial metrics, reporting an 89% year-on-year increase in operating revenue to ₹1,216.9 crore for Q1 FY27, while simultaneously reducing net losses by 71% compared to the previous year. Following the news of the transaction, Ather’s shares saw a significant rise on the National Stock Exchange.
