Heroic Hearts Project uses psychedelics to treat veteran PTSD

The nonprofit Heroic Hearts Project is organizing retreats in Mexico to help veterans manage post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through the use of psychedelics, such as psilocybin and 5-MeO-DMT.

During a documented retreat, Navy veteran Michael Giardina used psilocybin to confront deep-seated issues. While the program is designed for those with combat-related trauma, observations indicated that many participants, including Giardina, were also processing significant trauma that predated their military service, such as childhood emotional abuse.
