Andy Louisaint murder: Two arrested after body found under concrete in Herrera

Authorities in the Dominican Republic have arrested two men, José Antonio Martínez Joseph, 41, and Juan Gabriel Marte Ramírez, 26, in connection with the death of Andy Louisaint, a 47-year-old U.S. citizen of Haitian origin.

Louisaint’s body was discovered on Monday inside his clothing business, Martínez Fashion Import, located in the Buenos Aires de Herrera sector of Santo Domingo Oeste. The remains were found hidden under a staircase and concealed with a layer of concrete and plaster. The discovery was made after local residents reported a strong odor emanating from the establishment.

During interrogations, Martínez Joseph allegedly admitted to participating in the crime and stated that he inflicted a knife wound on the victim. Investigators have recovered three vehicles and six cell phones as evidence. While the exact cause of death is pending an autopsy by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), the case has been transferred to the homicide division.

Prior to his death, Louisaint, who identified as an engineer and international relations expert, had used social media to post allegations against Haitian politicians and businessmen regarding financial operations. Although these public denunciations have been noted as context, authorities have not officially confirmed a link between his social media activity and the murder.
