Herten road closure for district heating expansion

The Schlägel-und-Eisen-Straße in Herten will undergo a full closure for approximately six weeks starting Monday, September 7, to facilitate the expansion of the district heating network. The construction, managed by Hertener Stadtwerke, aims to connect new lines to a district heating transfer station in the Mühlenviertel district.

The closure affects the section between Wilhelminenstraße and the transfer station at Schachtstraße. During this period, turning between Schlägel-und-Eisen-Straße and Wilhelminenstraße will be prohibited in both directions. Traffic will be diverted via Ostring, Westerholter Straße, and Feldstraße, while residents may also use Margaretenstraße, where temporary no-parking zones will be implemented to manage increased traffic.

This project is part of a larger initiative by Hertener Stadtwerke to expand the heating network in stages through 2030. Once completed, the new transfer station is expected to provide district heating to more than 400 properties.
