Hertz customer faces unresolved $1,367 billing error

A Hertz customer is struggling to resolve a $1,367.38 charge for a Jeep Compass they claim they never rented. After a one-day sedan rental in Seattle, the customer received a second bill for a vehicle with rental dates that occurred before they arrived in the city and after they had already departed.

Despite making over 35 calls and providing evidence such as flight tickets and location photos, the dispute remains unresolved. Hertz customer relations reportedly sent an email on October 2 confirming that an adjustment for the error had been processed on September 29. However, the refund has not appeared in the customer's account.

The situation has resulted in a stalemate between the rental company and the customer's bank, Chase. While Hertz claims the refund was issued, the bank maintains that Hertz must confirm the transaction directly. The customer reports that the ongoing error is causing financial strain as credit card payments come due.
