Hervé Renard appointed Tunisia coach ahead of 2026 World Cup

French coach Hervé Renard has accepted the role of technical director of the Tunisia national football team during the 2026 World Cup, stepping in after the abrupt dismissal of Samir Lamouchi. Renard, known as the "coach with the white shirt," will lead Tunisia in his third World Cup with a different nation, having previously guided Morocco in 2018 and Saudi Arabia in 2022.

Renard was recently relieved of his duties in Saudi Arabia, moved to Senegal with his family, and now takes charge of a Tunisia side that suffered a 5‑1 defeat to Sweden and faces a crucial group match against Japan. He said his aim is to "present a better image" and secure a positive result. The appointment follows his reputation for motivational speeches and past successes in African football, including titles with Zambia and Ivory Coast.
