Laode Sinarwan Oda, Director of PT Toshida Indonesia, faces a two-year prison sentence and a 100 million IDR fine following bribery allegations involving former Ombudsman RI Chairman Hery Susanto. Prosecutors at the Jakarta Central District Court stated that Oda is proven to have provided bribes to influence official reports.

The prosecution alleges that Oda provided 675 million IDR through intermediaries Lukman Malanuang and Edi Sugandi to Hery Susanto during his tenure as an Ombudsman official.

In response to the proceedings, 40 national figures—including academics, legal practitioners, and civil society activists—submitted an amicus curiae brief to the judges. The group, represented by spokesperson Hasrul Harahap, requested that the court examine all elements of the indictment based strictly on legal facts and valid evidence. The brief emphasizes the principle of 'in dubio pro reo,' arguing that judicial decisions should be based on legal proof rather than social assumptions or public opinion.
