Herzele opens Watt’n tuin green space at De Wattenfabriek

The Watt’n tuin, a new green meeting space located at De Wattenfabriek in the center of Herzele, has officially opened to the public. The garden is designed to serve as a multifunctional outdoor area for residents and visitors, providing space for reading, playing, relaxing, and social interaction.

According to local officials, the space is intended to support various community activities, including lectures, poetry readings, cultural events, and youth service initiatives. It also serves as an extension for visitors of the local library, academy, and youth center. The design emphasizes greenery to provide shade and cooling during warm summer days.

The first phase of the project was realized with support from the Province of East Flanders, which provided a 50,000 euro subsidy for rural initiatives. The project is part of a broader local government investment in high-quality public spaces.
