Hesse announces funding for traditions and new event security guidelines

The Hessian state government has announced continued financial support for local tradition and custom associations. The Hessian Ministry of Home Affairs has allocated approximately 500,000 euros to fund projects related to regional dialects, traditional costumes, folk dance, and carnival traditions. Registered non-profit associations in Hesse can apply for grants ranging from 500 to 8,000 euros until September 15, 2026.

In a parallel effort to support regional culture, the Hessian Ministry of the Interior, for Security and Homeland Protection has released a revised guide titled ‘Security at Events’. Developed in collaboration with several state ministries and local authorities, the guide aims to ensure that public festivals, street parties, and Christmas markets can continue to operate safely with proportionate security requirements. Interior Minister Roman Poseck emphasized that while the security situation remains tense, the goal is to provide professional guidance to municipalities and organizers to maintain the state's festive culture.
