Hesse state administration launches ‘AI Gude’ AI pilot

The Hesse state administration is introducing a custom artificial intelligence system named ‘AI Gude’ to assist employees with routine tasks. The pilot project, which involves an investment of 2.8 million euros, aims to test the practicality of generative AI within government operations.

Initially, the system will be rolled out to the Ministry of Digital Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, and Services. Its primary functions include supporting research, text creation, and knowledge management. The underlying model currently utilized is provided by the French company Mistral.

Digital Minister Kristina Sinemus stated that AI-based systems are expected to play a decisive role in administrative work in the medium term. Following the initial phase, the tool will be gradually made available to other departments, and the possibility of its use in Hessian municipalities is being evaluated.
