Hessen awards 50 schools and daycare centers for environmental engagement
More than 62,000 children and young people participated in the ‘Sauberhaftes Hessen’ environmental campaign this year. The initiative, organized by the Hessian Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment, aims to raise awareness about clean environments and encourage responsible use of public spaces from a young age.
Participation included over 16,709 children from approximately 441 daycare centers during the ‘Sauberhaften Kindertag’ in May, and more than 46,000 students from 400 schools during the ‘Sauberhaften Schulweg’ in June.
As a reward for their commitment, 50 institutions—comprising 25 schools and 25 daycare centers—were selected to receive educational vouchers for a forest experience with HessenForst. These winners will also receive a 400 euro subsidy to cover costs such as meals or transportation. Hessian Agriculture and Environment Minister Ingmar Jung noted that the campaign serves to motivate youth to actively support a livable future for their communities.
