Hessen offers subsidies for vocational training of youths with special needs

In Hessen, Germany, companies can receive a one-time subsidy of up to 3,000 euros for providing vocational training positions to youths with special support needs. The funding, totaling approximately 2.2 million euros for the current year, is intended to offset the higher supervision costs associated with specific target groups. These groups include trainees who had to interrupt their education due to business insolvency, individuals continuing training after release from custody, older applicants with limited formal education, and youths requiring increased language support. Applications must be submitted to the Regierungspräsidium Kassel before the start of the training period, with the deadline for applications set until September 30, 2026.

Complementing these financial incentives, the NGO ÖJAB operates the ‘AusbildungsFit’ program to prepare vulnerable youths for the workforce. This initiative supports individuals aged 15 and older facing challenges such as learning disabilities, social difficulties, or psychological burdens. The program provides academic catch-up, practical work experience, and personal coaching to help participants enter fields like nursing or elementary pedagogy. The measure is funded by the Social Ministry Service and co-financed by the European Social Fund.
