Hessen passes law to support Spätaussiedler integration

The Hessian State Parliament has passed an amendment to the law regarding the reception and accommodation of Spätaussiedler (late resettlers). The new legislation aims to establish reliable, long-term frameworks for the reception, housing, and integration of these individuals while strengthening the decision-making capabilities of local districts, cities, and municipalities in Hessen.

The law has been extended until December 31, 2033. Interior Minister Roman Poseck emphasized the state's historical responsibility toward Spätaussiedler, noting the connection to the 85th anniversary of the Stalin Decree of 1941, which led to the deportation and disenfranchisement of hundreds of thousands of Germans in the former Soviet Union. Poseck stated that responsibility involves providing reliable conditions for a successful start and integration for those arriving today.
