Hessen sends 14 tons of aid to Kharkiv despite warehouse fire

The German state of Hessen has dispatched a new aid convoy to Kharkiv, Ukraine, carrying nearly 14 tons of supplies. The shipment includes medical supplies, sleeping bags, heating devices, fire hoses, tools, and hygiene products. The transport was organized and financed by the Hessen Ministry of the Interior.

This latest delivery follows a fire that broke out on October 9, 2026, at the warehouse of the “Frankfurt for Ukraine” initiative in the Dornbusch district of Frankfurt. The blaze destroyed a significant portion of the goods originally intended for this shipment. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, with police and state security services looking into suspicions of intentional arson.

Since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, Hessen has organized 154 aid transports consisting of 190 truckloads, with a total value exceeding 14.8 million euros. Interior Minister Roman Poseck noted that providing such support is a matter of humanity and aligns with the state's values.
