Heumen municipality faces high costs after Overasselt violence

The municipality of Heumen reports that the violent incident in Overasselt on September 1 has cost the local government hundreds of thousands of euros. These expenses include direct costs such as the closure of residential properties and the implementation of camera surveillance, as well as indirect costs involving legal advice, security, and administrative capacity.

Mayor Joerie Minses has sought financial support from the national government to cover these significant bills. A spokesperson for the municipality stated that the violence in Overasselt is not merely a local issue but represents a national problem of undermining crime.
