Heusenstamm Rewe-Center begins major redevelopment

Demolition has begun at the Rewe-Center in Heusenstamm to make way for a major redevelopment project. On Wednesday, the gas station and car wash facilities on the Werner-von-Siemens-Straße site were removed.

The project aims to integrate the drugstore chain dm and the discounter Aldi into a new extension on the site. The existing Rewe building will also undergo comprehensive modernization. The current gas station area is being cleared, including necessary soil investigations, to facilitate the construction of the new annex and a planned green parking deck.

Completion of the extension and parking deck is currently scheduled for the end of 2028. Following that, the modernization of the existing Rewe-Center, which will eventually span 4,200 square meters, is expected to take place.
