Hexagon to acquire marine positioning firm Guidance Marine

Hexagon has announced an agreement to acquire Guidance Marine, a UK-based company specializing in relative positioning sensors for marine and offshore applications. Based in Leicester, Guidance Marine provides radar, laser, vision, and microwave-based sensing solutions that allow vessels to maintain position and maneuver safely near structures such as offshore platforms, wind turbines, and quaysides.

The acquisition is intended to complement Hexagon’s existing GNSS and absolute positioning services by adding relative positioning capabilities. This integration aims to provide a complete positioning portfolio for vessel operators and strengthens Hexagon’s presence in sectors including offshore wind, marine construction, and port automation.

Guidance Marine serves customers in over 40 countries and maintains established relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, at which point Guidance Marine will join Hexagon’s NovAtel Positioning Division.
