Hezbollah launches housing aid program for displaced Lebanese families

Hezbollah has announced a new housing aid program titled ‘Promise and Commitment’ to assist Lebanese families whose homes were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable during recent conflicts with Israel. Ali Daamoush, head of the group’s Executive Council, stated that the program aims to help those displaced from their primary residences who lack alternative permanent housing.

Under the program, families in Beirut and its southern suburbs will receive up to $14,000, which includes $6,000 for rent and $8,000 for furniture. Families in other regions of Lebanon will receive up to $12,000, including $4,000 for rent and $8,000 for furniture. The aid will be distributed in four installments over the course of one year. The first payments are set at $3,500 for those in Beirut/suburbs and $3,000 for other areas.

Eligibility extends to owners of partially or fully destroyed homes, those in buildings slated for demolition, and displaced persons from border areas, regardless of whether their original homes were damaged. The initiative comes amid criticism of the Lebanese state’s perceived failure to provide adequate relief for the displaced. While the exact source of funding was not specified, observers suggest it likely originates from Iran.
