Hezbollah calls for freeze on Israel talks amid US-Iran diplomatic efforts

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem has called for a freeze on direct negotiations with Israel, accusing the Lebanese authorities of aiding Israeli interests and conceding too much power. Qassem argued that previous negotiation rounds yielded results “below zero” and urged a transition to indirect negotiations to protect Lebanese sovereignty.

Concurrently, diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing military confrontation between the United States and Iran have seen new developments. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi revealed that Tehran has submitted a seven-day practical plan to the U.S. administration via Qatari mediators. The plan aims to restore normal navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, provided certain conditions are met. While U.S. officials described recent discussions as “constructive,” the Trump administration is exploring emergency options to mitigate rising oil and diesel prices caused by maritime blockades. Meanwhile, the European Union has warned of potential industrial supply crises during the upcoming winter due to these disruptions.
