Hezbollah delegation meets with Gebran Bassil

A delegation from Hezbollah recently visited the headquarters of the Free Patriotic Movement to meet with MP Gebran Bassil. This marks the first meeting between the two parties in approximately one year.

Discussions covered several critical issues, including the exclusivity of weapons in the hands of the state, occupied points in southern Lebanon, and ongoing negotiation tracks. While both sides described the results of the meeting as positive, they noted that the encounter does not signify a return to their previous alliance or understanding, given the recent political distancing between the groups.

Hezbollah official Mohammad Said al-Khansa stated that the communication was natural and emphasized the importance of national unity and the sovereignty of the Lebanese state. The meeting also touched upon disagreements regarding the “framework agreement,” which the Free Patriotic Movement has previously criticized.
