Hezbollah Lawyers Gathering urges Lebanon to pursue Israel in international courts
The Hezbollah Lawyers Gathering issued a statement condemning Israeli attacks on civilians in the towns of Ansar and Deir ez-Zahani. The group characterized these actions as part of an aggressive policy of forced displacement and a violation of international humanitarian law.
The gathering called on the Lebanese authorities to withdraw from direct negotiations and existing framework agreements with Israel. Instead, they urged the government to reclaim Lebanon’s right to pursue legal action against Israel through international judicial and human rights forums by documenting alleged crimes and submitting them to competent international bodies.
Furthermore, the group called upon the Bar Associations of Beirut and Tripoli, along with other human rights institutions, to fulfill their responsibilities in pursuing legal accountability. The statement emphasized that protecting national sovereignty and civilians requires upholding the right to resistance and self-determination as guaranteed by international and Arab conventions.
