Hezbollah leader Naïm Qassem addressed tens of thousands of supporters in Beirut to commemorate the second anniversary of the death of former leader Hassan Nasrallah. During the gathering at Nasrallah’s mausoleum, Qassem asserted that Israel has failed to achieve its strategic objectives, specifically failing to break Hezbollah’s resistance, end the group's existence, or establish permanent settlements in southern Lebanon.

The speech comes amid a period of significant instability. Following renewed hostilities in 2026, Lebanese authorities report over 4,300 deaths and more than one million people displaced within the country. While a framework agreement reached in June under U.S. mediation intended to facilitate the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces in exchange for Hezbollah’s disarmament, implementation has been slow. Qassem emphasized that Hezbollah remains committed to its path and warned that surrender would mean the end of Lebanon. He expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue with the Lebanese government, but only after the liberation of the south and the return of its residents.
