Hezbollah possession of Nazi-era German weapons discovered in Lebanon

Israeli military units have discovered Nazi-era German weaponry during operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The seized items include an MG 34 machine gun and an MP 44 assault rifle, both of which date back more than 80 years to the Second World War.

Notably, the MG 34 still bears original German inspection stamps, including the Reich eagle and swastika. Experts suggest these weapons may have been kept by Hezbollah not necessarily for their modern military utility, but for ideological purposes, such as propaganda or morale boosting.

Analysts note that the discovery highlights historical links between the Nazi regime and certain radical figures in the Middle East, specifically citing the relationship between the regime and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, who lived in Berlin during the war.
