Hezbollah rejects U.S. calls for dialogue amid disarmament demands

Hezbollah continues to reject direct negotiations with the United States regarding the ongoing conflict and diplomatic efforts in Lebanon. While the U.S. has extended invitations for dialogue, the group has not responded. The Trump administration has reportedly set a condition for engagement: the relinquishment of military hardware. This requirement is tied to broader discussions involving the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, the return of displaced residents to their villages, and reconstruction efforts.

Hezbollah has maintained its stance against direct talks, expressing dissatisfaction with current negotiations between Lebanon and Israel held in Rome, which the group claims has led to increased Israeli military escalation in the south. Instead, the group appears to be relying on Iran to negotiate on its behalf to halt regional hostilities.

Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri has expressed hope that mediators, including Arab and Pakistani actors, can facilitate a de-escalation between the U.S. and Iran, which would subsequently impact the situation on the Lebanese southern front.
