HFSA 2026 research highlights new findings in ATTR-CM and oHCM
New analyses from the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting have provided insights into the management and progression of specific cardiomyopathy conditions.
A re-evaluation of the phase 3 ATTRibute-CM study suggests a link between cardiovascular-related hospitalization (CVH) and an increased risk of all-cause mortality in patients with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). The study, presented by researchers from University of California San Diego Health, examined the efficacy of acoramidis, a transthyretin stabilizer, in patients aged 18 to 90.
Separately, data from the SEQUOIA-HCM trial regarding the cardiac myosin inhibitor aficamten showed improvements in right ventricular function for patients with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM). Presented by researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, the analysis indicated reductions in right ventricular systolic pressure and improvements in right ventricular free wall longitudinal strain.
