HHS demands medical groups provide evidence for pediatric gender care

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a notice to several major medical and psychological organizations, demanding they provide scientific evidence to support their guidance on gender-related procedures for minors.

The directive aims to increase transparency and accountability regarding pediatric gender medicine. HHS stated that organizations must explain their positions without “dodging” or using “vague statements.”

Organizations identified in the notice include the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, the Endocrine Society, and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
