Hidalgo and Tamaulipas upgrade public transport fleets with new buses and tighter oversight

In the Mexican state of Hidalgo, the government added 60 new minibuses equipped with AI‑driven cameras to 16 feeder routes of the Metropolitan Transport system. The vehicles feature dual interior cameras and an additional AI‑based camera that monitors driver performance, aiming to improve safety and service quality while keeping fares at 10 pesos.

Meanwhile, Tamaulipas' Public Transport Secretariat intensified regulations and inspections during the first half of 2026. Measures include a documentation and mechanical review program, fiscal incentives for operators, registration and identification of digital‑platform drivers, and increased field inspections to ensure compliance with state transport laws. Both initiatives are part of broader efforts by state authorities to modernize public‑transport services and enhance passenger safety.
