Hidalgo del Parral receives updated urban development plan
The Chihuahua state government, through the Secretariat of Urban Development and Ecology (SDUE), has delivered an updated Urban Development Plan for the population center of Hidalgo del Parral to Mayor Salvador Calderón. The new plan provides a growth vision extending to 2050, replacing the previous version that had been in effect since 1998.
The document establishes criteria for regulating land use, defining expansion areas, and protecting environmental zones. It also incorporates strategies for mobility, housing, and sustainable development. The planning process included citizen surveys, workshops with local professionals and business leaders, and a public consultation period where 52 citizen observations and proposals were recorded.
Gabriel Valdez, Secretary of Urban Development and Ecology, noted that this instrument helps address the lack of updated urban planning, stating that at the start of the current state administration, only 13 percent of municipalities had updated plans. The City Council must now review and approve the document before requesting its publication in the State Official Gazette to make it legally binding.
