Hidalgo establishes Mexico's largest STEM laboratory network

Hidalgo has established the largest network of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) laboratories in Mexico, according to an analysis by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO). The state government, under Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar, has allocated over 117 million pesos to strengthen these facilities. The expansion includes plans for 20 new spaces in 2025 and 11 more in 2026 across upper secondary and higher education institutions. These laboratories focus on advanced fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), drones, and industrial vision.

In parallel, the Hidalgo Institute of Education (IHE) is conducting intensive sessions of the School Technical Council (CTE) to prepare for the 2026-2027 school year. Education officials are working with primary school supervisors to analyze regional challenges and develop planning strategies tailored to the specific needs of individual schools. This preparatory phase includes discussions on the impact of digital devices on children and youth.
