Hidalgo hosts third Gimnasiada Nacional youth sports event
The state of Hidalgo is hosting the third edition of the Gimnasiada Nacional, a sporting event that brings together more than 5,000 athletes from all 32 Mexican states. Participants are competing in nine different sporting disciplines.
Athletes have the opportunity to earn a spot on the national selection team that will represent Mexico at the Under-18 World Cup to be held in Brazil. The inaugural ceremony was led by Natividad Castrejón Valdez, representing Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar.
Officials from the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade) and the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH) emphasized the role of sports in promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing addiction, and fostering values such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance among youth.
