Hidalgo, Junín and Lima Host Major 2026 Book Fairs

In Mexico, Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar inaugurated the 26th International Children and Youth Book Fair of Hidalgo (FILIJ) on July 31, delivering the State Literature Awards to Silvia Elizabeth Mata Reséndiz (Storytelling) and Luis Arístedes Rodríguez Solis (Poetry). The fair runs until August 9 at the Parque Cultural Hidalguense, featuring 290 activities, 650 cultural agents, 40 publishing houses and 80 editorial imprints across 50 stands, with participants from ten countries.

In Peru, the 30th International Book Fair of Lima (FIL 2026) entered its final week, offering free shuttle buses from the Jockey Plaza and Parque de la Amistad to improve access. The event, running through August 6, includes more than 600 cultural activities, a guest‑of‑honor status for Ecuador, and a program that spans authors, concerts, cinema and children’s spaces.

The XXII Junín Book Fair in Peru concluded its program with a packed schedule of author talks, workshops, robotics sessions and musical performances, highlighted by a conference titled “Un mundo en conflicto” with Carolina Amoroso. Local journalists and writers such as Magalí Laboret and Fernanda Zanlungo participated, emphasizing regional literary production.

In Bolivia, the FIL‑2026 featured a concert by Andean singer Luzmila Carpio, who performed songs in Quechua celebrating indigenous languages and cultures. The free‑ticket event, held in the Sala Illimani of the Chuquiago Marka fairgrounds, was supported by the Indigenous Peoples Development Fund and the Spanish embassy.
