Hidalgo prioritizes mental health prevention and adolescent support

The government of Hidalgo, led by Julio Menchaca Salazar, is prioritizing mental health prevention and care through the State Health Secretariat (SSH). The initiative focuses on the early detection of warning signs and the creation of support networks to provide timely assistance, particularly for adolescents and young people.

In observance of World Mental Health Day, health officials are emphasizing the importance of listening and acting to combat the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health conditions. The state strategy includes health fairs, awareness campaigns, and training activities to bring services closer to the population.

Health Secretary Vanesa Escalante Arroyo and state mental health coordinator Iván Melo Aguilar have highlighted the need for collaboration between health, educational, and community sectors. Key indicators for intervention include significant mood changes, isolation, risky behaviors, altered daily habits, and substance use.
