Hidalgo reports 12 municipalities with abnormally dry conditions

Twelve municipalities in the Mexican state of Hidalgo are currently experiencing abnormally dry conditions (D0), according to the Drought Monitor from the National Meteorological Service of the National Water Commission (Conagua).

The affected municipalities include Alfajayucan, Chapantongo, Chapulhuacán, Huichapan, Jacala de Ledezma, La Misión, Nopala de Villagrán, Pisaflores, Tasquillo, Tecozautla, Tepehuacán de Guerrero, and Tlahuiltepa. The remaining 72 municipalities in the state are reported to be free of drought, with no areas currently recording moderate, severe, extreme, or exceptional drought conditions.

This represents a decrease from approximately three months ago, when 15 municipalities were classified as abnormally dry and 69 were drought-free. Conagua continues to monitor the situation through meteorological observatories in Pachuca and Tulancingo, noting that moisture levels may fluctuate during the season. The agency stated it will issue recommendations and promote water culture campaigns if drought levels increase.
