Hidalgo reports increased revenue and reduced debt service costs
The government of Hidalgo is reporting significant fiscal shifts and social program distributions. Secretary of Finance María Esther Ramírez Vargas informed the state legislature that Hidalgo maintains a public debt of 2,274 million pesos as of August 2026. However, through the proactive management of two existing credits, the state has successfully reduced its annual debt service costs from approximately 800 million pesos to roughly 300 million pesos.
Additionally, the state has seen a substantial increase in its own revenue, which grew 96% over four years, rising from 4,916 million pesos in 2021 to over 9,636 million pesos by the end of 2025. This growth was achieved through tax process modernization and an expanded taxpayer base without increasing existing tax rates.
On the social welfare front, the Secretariat of Welfare and Social Inclusion (Sebiso) has delivered support through various programs, including 'Bienestar y Desarrollo' and 'Madres Trabajadoras.' These efforts have benefited nearly 4,000 people across the Huasteca and Sierra Alta regions, including municipalities such as Huejutla de Reyes and Jaltocán.
