Hidalgo security report details 7 million liters of fuel seized

Salvador Cruz Neri, head of the Hidalgo Public Security Secretariat (SSPH), presented a four-year management report to the State Congress detailing significant operations against organized crime. The report highlights a major crackdown on ‘huachicol’ (fuel theft), resulting in the seizure of over 7 million liters of fuel, the recovery of 1,588 vehicles, and the discovery of 11 tunnels used for illegal extraction.

In terms of narcotics and weaponry, authorities seized more than 1.3 million doses of suspected narcotics and 1,294 firearms, while dismantling four clandestine laboratories. The security strategy also involved 773 search warrants, leading to the processing of 1,126 individuals for illicit activities.

To support these operations, the government of Hidalgo allocated 2 billion pesos to the security sector, doubling the investment from the previous administration. This funding facilitated the acquisition of 416 operational vehicles, 746 ballistic vests, and nearly 150,000 uniforms. Additionally, the SSPH reported training 13,442 police officers and maintaining a 99.69% compliance rate for confidence evaluations.
